The Pink Floyd comment raises a smile. Some years earlier Frank had been drinking in a pub in Bristol and had been lost in conversation with a guy at the bar. As time wore on, he remembered he was going to a Pink Floyd gig that evening so he made his apologies and started to leave. The other guy stood up with him saying he was going as well and they could go together. Outside was parked a high-end motor – Ferrari, Lamborghini or something like that – and Frank found he had been talking with Dave Gilmour.

Amazing, and interesting, although pardon my showing Philistineism but who is Dave Gilmour when not lurking at public houses for refreshing libations? From me in Launceston Tasmania, not Cornwall, not another brick in the 🧱 🌽.
Definately showing my ignorance now, but I just had to Google Dave Gilmour. I figured he was obviously from Pink Floyd (Or a band that’s mates with Pink Floyd), but I don’t know the name.
I’m glad it wasn’t me in that pub. After he introduced himself, I would have just said, “Pleased to meet you” and carried on the conversation as normal
At least I wouldn’t have said, “Pink who?”
Hate to show my lack of ingnorance, but Gilmour is the angelic side of the Floyds, while Waters, equally great, is the demonic side of them. Looks like millions of happy moments of my life were spent with their music. But a guy in a pub is just a very human being, so I don’t envy Frank. Or I don’t envy him too much over that.
A guy in a pub may just be a human, but I once met a female celebrity I fancied and I just dribbled down my front
This post made me smile. It’s so Frank. I can just picture him taking meeting Dave Gilmour in stride (I had to Google him too, sorry to say.)
Glad to hear of Gilmour, I came in to Pink Floyd early ’70’s with Meddle.
Most recently heard after absorbing earlier and later was
The Endless River.
I see scrolling down at Discogs that they performed live in Venice in 2021

But I’m sure Frank would have been onboard with most of Chris Snowdons recent writing about 15 years of the British smoking ban.

Apologies, I’ll catch up re earlier posts!

Thanks for the Snowdon piece, I hadn’t seen that. I am seeing some encouraging signs, here and there, that people may be revisiting and questioning smoking bans, in the wake of the hysterical international response to covid and the damage it has caused.
Intriguing, Emily. Do you have any links to such subversive news, or is it all quiet, off-the-record whisperings? It’d be good to read some tentatively good news on this front, even if it’s only, at this point, mutterings amongst ourselves …
I am well aware of Dave Gilmour and Pink Floyd, my husband has always been a great fan, but I tend to find an important job to do in the garden when it starts up.
I’m glad that Frank had a good evening with him though, my husband was most impressed.
Hi Rose :D
I’ve been passed a link for a SARS-CoV-2 accelerated clearance using a novel nitric oxide nasal spray (NONS) treatment: A randomized trial paper…

My good friend Cade Fon Apollyon, who used to comment here and visited smokie drinkie has passed away…
From what, or how, do you know?
He died in his sleep. A suspected heart-attack, but the cause is not known yet.
Sorry to hear that news.
I’m so sorry to hear it. I remember Cade very well; he joined Smoky Drinky Bar once or twice when I was on and it was always good to talk to him.
Thanks Roobeedoo2 (I’m tempted to write RBD2! ;- )
I too interacted with Cade in the virtual reality of the SDB.
It was great to be able to both listen to and talk with him.
The next song in that Meddle album:
Frank might have liked to visit there too.
San Tropez.
Sorry to get carried away. A bit off topic!
