The Saddest Inauguration Ever

It’s going to be horrible to watch.

In a couple of days Joe Biden is going to be inaugurated as US president, with 25,000 troops surrounding the capitol, plus fences and barbed wire.

They won’t be there to protect him from external enemies. They’ll be there to protect him from the American people who didn’t elect him.

Not exactly a vote of confidence in a new administration.

It’ll be the saddest inauguration ever.

It will be sad, but not for the reasons stated. At least 7 million more of the American people elected Joe Biden than elected Donald Trump. That means Biden will be President. The people causing the current lockdown of the Inauguration are those who can’t accept that. And that’s what’s really sad because we’re stuck with them.

The people causing the current lockdown of the Inauguration are Joe Biden’s handlers and the career politicians in Congress. They want to make a show of this. They have stationed over 30,000 National Guard troops in Washington, D.C.–more than twelve times the amount we have stationed in regime-change “war zones” like Afghanistan. They want to paint Trump supporters as violent “thugs” (Biden’s term), while simultaneously completely ignoring the months of BLM/Antifa riots, looting and burning in multiple cities across the US. This is clearly a divide-and-conquer strategem. They want us to fight amongst ourselves, and not against them.

      • Rose says:

Looking on from outside, it makes them look afraid.
They are even afraid of the National Guard if they are having to question their loyalty.

What have they done to be so afraid?

        • Joe L. says:

Absolutely, Rose. They look extremely weak and scared. They definitely aren’t behaving like people who are confident they fairly won an election, that’s for certain. I think they realize that they’ve overplayed their hand, and their bluffs no longer work. They feel they have no choice now but to pull out all the stops to suppress dissent from the right, center and a portion of the left. This is terrifying. I never thought I’d see this happen in America, at least not in my lifetime.

I picked this up on the Interwebs yesterday:

        https://greenwald.substack.com/p/the-new-domestic-war-on-terror-is

It’s a rather long article but these paragraphs resonated with your comment Joe:

“If you identify as a conservative and continue to believe that your prime enemies are ordinary leftists, or you identify as a leftist and believe your prime enemies are Republican citizens, you will fall perfectly into the trap set for you. Namely, you will ignore your real enemies, the ones who actually wield power at your expense: ruling class elites, who really do not care about “right v. left” and most definitely do not care about “Republican v. Democrat” — as evidenced by the fact that they fund both parties — but instead care only about one thing: stability, or preservation of the prevailing neoliberal order.”

        and

“Neoliberalism and imperialism do not care about the pseudo-fights between the two parties or the cable TV bickering of the day. They do not like the far left or the far right. They do not like extremism of any kind. They do not support Communism and they do not support neo-Nazism or some fascist revolution. They care only about one thing: disempowering and crushing anyone who dissents from and threatens their hegemony. They care about stopping dissidents. All the weapons they build and institutions they assemble — the FBI, the DOJ, the CIA, the NSA, oligarchical power — exist for that sole and exclusive purpose, to fortify their power by rewarding those who accede to their pieties and crushing those who do not.”

Thanks for the link, Furtive Ferret!

It absolutely does resonate with my comment, and once I realized it was written by Glenn Greenwald, it made a lot of sense. Glenn Greenwald is one of the last remaining true, unbiased jornalists left in this country. He received a lot of shit from “The Powers That Be” for being brave enough to expose the unconstitutional surveillance being performed upon innocent US citizens by our own intelligence agencies. I don’t follow him closely, but maybe I should, because every time I hear him or read his words, I feel relieved that I’m not alone; I’m not crazy. He is the last of a dying breed, and voices like his are needed now more than ever.

Dueling was more a European thing, back then …
Imagine the putative First Ladies fighting it out. (Over what? )
Never going to happen now. What would the men duel over? Could they?

    No, the election is lost.
