All Getting Darker

It all seems to be getting rather dark:

Senior allies of Boris Johnson have warned that Britain will face civil unrest on the scale of the gilets jaunes protests in France or the riots in Los Angeles if Brexit is frustrated.

The prime minister was accused of inciting hatred towards MPs yesterday as the backlash grew against his claim that they must deliver Brexit to be properly safe.

A senior cabinet minister told The Times that the country risked a “violent, popular uprising” if a second referendum overturned the result of the first one.

Historian David Starkey:

“The last time we were in territory like this it was decided by civil war.”

Breitbart:

Pelosi announced on Tuesday late afternoon that the House is conducting an impeachment inquiry of the president, a move she made via press conference.

Why do they want to impeach Trump? Because they don’t like him. He was never supposed to be President: She was. And he shouldn’t have phoned the Ukrainian president and talked to him about, well,.. stuff. Does it matter why? They want to impeach him because they’ve always wanted to impeach him for something, anything.

Maybe it was what he’d just said in a speech to the UN?

“The future does not belong to globalists. The future belongs to patriots. The future belongs to sovereign and independent nations who protect their citizens, respect their neighbours, and honour the differences that make each country special and unique.”

The whole world seems to be slowly coming to the boil.

Sweden Spinning Out Of Control

Thanks to their new poster child? She’s become the new face of Sweden. The old and much prettier face used to be Abba, I seem to remember. But that was a long time ago.

Re Greta & etc.- a link from a local blog led me to these, well, this essay series.

I’ve only read two so far, but I thought this Volume II excerpt might appeal to
Some French bloke in that it quoted Guy Debord,
“The smug acceptance of what exists can also merge with purely spectacular rebellion; this reflects the simple fact that dissatisfaction itself became a commodity as soon as economic abundance could extend production to the processing of such raw materials.” — Guy Debord, Society of the Spectacle

    http://www.theartofannihilation.com/an-object-lesson-in-spectacle-excerpt-from-the-manufacturing-of-greta-thunberg-for-consent-volume-ii/

But I came in at only Volume I Act VI (linked) so I have a lot more to read yet …
    http://www.theartofannihilation.com/the-manufacturing-of-greta-thunberg-a-decade-of-social-manipulation-for-the-corporate-capture-of-nature-crescendo/

At least at that link (& no doubt others) you can see the whole index.

So we can all read from the beginning, or at any point.

As we have time … and are alive.

    Cheers! ;=}))

Or if not feeling cheered, read, mark, learn, inwardly digest.

    • In fact, the title of today’s thread All Getting Darker reminded me of Debord’s favourite palindrome, also the title for his sixth and final film (1978): “In girum imus nocte et consumimur igni”

The palindromic* Latin riddle “In girum imus nocte (, ecce) et consumimur igni” (translated to English as “we go in a circle at night and are consumed by fire”, in German as “Sie irren des Nachts im Kreis umher und werden vom Feuer verzehrt”), describes the behavior of moths. It is likely that this palindrome is from medieval rather than ancient times.

*palindrome (often also called mirror sentence): a phrase which reads the same backward and forward)

And you can access an English translation of his comments in this ‘movie’, of sorts, here:

Darker and uglier. Pelosi, Biden, Corbyn and especially Abbott, ugh. Pelosi from leprosy city, Biden, the little girl hair sniffer; Corbyn, previously a Soviet spy, now supports Hamas terrorists, finally Abbott, the racist. And don’t mention Greta.
And they wonder why we smoke?

Limbaugh just said that here we’re entering the phase of a “cold civil war.” The parallels between our two countries are astounding.

The media is not media. It’s just Democrats who work in the media, and the whole group of ’em is aligned. And what we are in the middle of now, folks, is a Cold Civil War. It has begun. It is a Cold Civil War as opposed to hot. There’s no hostilities declared. There’s no two clear sides of this. And certainly no shots have been fired. But nevertheless we’re in the midst of a Cold Civil War, and it encompasses a lot of things.

It encompasses overturn the election results of 2016, it is about protecting and defending the deep state, the Washington establishment going forward. Their careers, their fortunes, their corruption. There are terribly big stakes involved here for these people. And Trump is on the cusp of overturning it and exposing it. They cannot allow that to happen.

Man sprays smoker in face with fire extinguisher to put out cigarette: ‘You can’t smoke around here’

    These antismokers are getting violent.

    • Joe L. says:

Thanks for the link, LC. From the article:

On Monday, Mr Jamison published a sprawling statement on Facebook, which both apologised for spraying Mr Bird and also defended himself.

He claimed before the video began the pair had previously argued about Mr Bird smoking much nearer to his restaurants, which ended with him blowing smoke in Mr Jamison’s face.

“Was my behaviour on Friday the right way to handle the situation? Of course not. Am I sorry? Absolutely. Did I mean to cause that man harm or pain? Definitely not.”

But Mr Jamison, who described himself as “Mr Extinguisher AKA the biggest asshole on the planet”, said he was “done grovelling”, claiming he was simply defending his customers’ lungs and that the contents of the extinguisher were significantly less toxic than Mr Bird’s second-hand smoke.

“So you want to call it assault? Go for it. I call it self defence, protecting my air, the duty to protect my customers.”

He also announced he was no longer an owner of the three nearby vegan restaurants, but said his old company had promised to donate $5 to an animal rights charity for every comment, whether supportive or not, on his new Facebook page.

So the assailant, Alex Jamison, is a vegan, an animal right activist, and a rabid, violent Antismoker. The epitome of a Progressive “do-gooder.” This man needs to be arrested and convicted of assault, otherwise there will be copycats, and the weapons used will become far deadlier than a fire extinguisher. We are living in frightening times.
