Grid Girl Gone

Following on from the walk-on girls a couple of days back, F1 grid girls are being eliminated too:

Formula One grid girl Giorgia Davies has hit back at the so-called feminists who lobbied the motorsports industry to scrap her job, telling them they are “not defending women”.

Grid girls were scrapped by F1 shortly after the elimination of walk-on girls by the Professional Darts Corporation, because their jobs were held to be “at odds with modern day societal norms”.

Davies, a former Miss England finalist, hit back in a combative Facebook post, writing: “I am proud of my job. I am respected. I am paid well, and I have managed to gain a professional reputation that has enabled me to make a career out of something I love.”

It brought to mind the grid girl at the start of the Jaguar F-type ad a few years back, that featured Lana Del Rey’s vocals over the top.

This is purely a cultural war. Getting rid of the grid girls is the salami slice preliminary to getting rid of the highly masculine Formula One, in which the grid girls play a feminine counterpoint to that masculinity.

Next they’ll be demanding 30 mph speed limits on Formula One circuits.

For the chiiiildren, or something.

And the goal is? To kill the sport. And kill off its “outdated” values.

And the same people who’re out to kill Formula One are out to kill every other sport as well, little by little.

The war on smoking is a cultural war. The war on alcohol is another cultural war. And the war on Christianity. And the war on the nation state.

We’re living through a global cultural war. It’s a war between traditionalists and progressives.

For what it’s worth, I’m with the traditionalists.

And here’s Lana Del Rey promo video for the track: Burning Desire.

These radical feminists are just like the anti-smokers: “I WANT, ME, ME, ME”.
As Giorgia Davies said: …I am paid well so, which bit of earning decent money and Ms Davies loving her job do these weirdo feminists not like? Ms Davies does not sound like she was forced doing this job. If she had problems with it she’d do something else.
The ‘new societal norm’ sounds terribly, terribly short sighted to me and I do feel the grid girls and their employers should tell these radical feminists to take their new norm and shove it!

    What about these men?

Clearly the ‘new societal norm’ also objects a nice male body adding a little masculinity to a feminine area?

I don’t think it is a war between traditionalists and progressives; it’s all about power and (ab)using it.

Looking on the bright side, it is fascinating to be able to watch a society destroying itself in real time!

I’m not sure it is ‘traditionalists’ losing to ‘progressives’ because you could view the supposed ‘progressives’ as re-introducing mediaeval practices: witch hunts, strict religion, celibacy. The ‘traditionalists’ and ‘conservatives’ are basically now fighting for what used to be known as ‘permissiveness’!

I see your point, and having been exiled from society over 10 years ago , you can view the rapid disintegration from some sort of a distance.

That’s a perspicacious observation, and with more than a grain of truth. Yes, the ‘progressives’ are indeed trying to take us back to an earlier age of prudery and stiff, uncompromising morality, where one ‘doesn’t talk about these things’, and the Inquisitors are rampant.

Frank, I agree it is a culture war, but it is more about radical distribution of power than actual conservative or progressive political norms. It seems to me that the so-called ‘progressives’ are more opportunistic than norm-based. They shift their campaigns to targets opportunity. They remind me of Lenin during the October Revolution, changing his agenda from day-to-day pursuing victory rather than ideological consistency. That’s not too say the prohibitionist theme isn’t there it is, but the radical redistribution of power is more important than health, class, race. or morals. indeed you could make the case, the progressive left has abandoned nearly lass traditional left values (class, workers political stake) to replace them with fashionable alternatives that actually undermine their long-term goals.
