I can’t help but think that Kim Jong Un is doing Donald Trump a great favour by threatening to launch nukes at Guam. Because by so doing he’s promoted himself to become US Public Enemy Number One. And in doing this he’s pushed the Russians out of the top spot, which they’ve occupied nearly continuously since about 1945.
For I think this is much more about internal US politics than anything else. There’s a civil war being fought inside the US administration, and in fact inside the US state. And for the whole of his presidency Trump has been portrayed in the US media as the Russian choice as president, and in league with the Russian US Number One enemy. So if someone else steps into the shoes of the Number One enemy, it takes the heat off Trump (and also the Russians). And it allows Trump to threaten “fire and fury” in defence of the USA.
The civil war in the US administration is being fought between the outgoing Obama administration and the incoming Trump administration. For the the US government is full up with thousands of Obama appointees that Trump is having difficulty in replacing. So it’s a war that’s being bitterly fought from room to room, from desk to desk, in more or less every government department. Case in point:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – After being convicted of criminal misdemeanor contempt, former Maricopa Co. Sheriff Joe Arpaio continues to attack the Obama holdovers in the Trump Justice Department who seeking to imprison him for enforcing the very immigration laws President Trump has sworn to enforce.
“Why is Barack Obama is still running the Trump Justice Department?” Arpaio asked Infowars.com in an exclusive interview.
Last week I reported that Attorney General Jeff Sessions wasn’t even able to phone President Trump. That was how completely seized up everything was. But in the past few days Trump and Sessions have been talking at last (presumably because someone finally gave Sessions a telephone), and reports have it that Sessions is now beginning to act as Trump has been demanding.
A couple of days ago Infowars’ Jerome Corsi reported that Hillary Clinton was in discussions with the Justice Department over a plea bargain:
WASHINGTON, D.C. – In an exclusive telephone interview with Infowars.com, noted Clinton author Ed Klein affirmed the reliability of his source for the story he published yesterday that the Justice Dept. has reopened the investigation of Hillary Clinton’s mishandling of classified information on her private email system while she was secretary of state, and is considering offering her a plea bargain if she were willing to plead guilty.
Klein’s reporting suggests President Trump’s harsh criticism of Attorney General Sessions may have prompted the Justice Department not only to begin an investigation of criminal leaks, but also to reopen an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
Probably no mainstream media outlet has carried this story, but that’s because there’s an information war being fought as well as an internal government civil war. And the information war is being fought between the anti-Trump mainstream media (NYT, WaPo, CNN, etc.) and the pro-Trump new online media (Alex Jones’ Infowars, Breibart, Daily Caller, Matt Drudge, Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, etc.) Donald Trump has been calling much of the MSM “fake news” for months, and has now started broadcasting his own “real news”, to the outrage of the MSM.
Kayleigh McEnany, who has been plying her trade as a pro-Trump pundit on CNN for a while, jumped ship to the Trump Team over the weekend. And Sunday, she debuted a Trump TV segment that she labelled the “real news.”
Who’s winning the media wars? Well, the new online media were right about Trump winning the presidential election, and the MSM were disastrously and catastrophically wrong. And the MSM are losing audiences/readers, and shrinking. While the online media seem to be growing: I can now watch Alex Jones’ Infowars live online, and he’s hiring more people to work for him, and building new studios. The same seems to be happening with other online personalities like Michael Savage and Rush Limbaugh.
Why are the upstart new online media outfits winning against the established MSM? Probably because they’re fronted by a lot of real personalities talking spontaneously rather than reading scripts prepared by editorial teams. They’re much more fun. And they have much more interesting guests, who are very often people who never get a hearing in the MSM, and come to Infowars instead. If the MSM are classical orchestral music, the online media are rock ‘n’ roll.
Who’s winning the internal US government civil war? Well, Trump has the very slight initiative as the President. And Obama is in very slow retreat as ex-President, even if he’s set up his own shadow White House in Washington. And there are probably a lot of key players (e.g. generals) who are waiting to see which way to jump, if they want to keep their jobs in a future administration.
Is Hillary Clinton talking with the Justice Dept about a plea bargain? I have no idea. But if she is it would be a blow struck on behalf of the world’s smokers, given that she’s more or less been the world’s Antismoker-in-Chief for the past 20 years. Even better would be if she is indicted, tried, and sentenced. Just the thought of it is heart-warming.
And I can also well imagine Kim Jong Un visiting Trump Tower in NYC as an honoured guest in a few months time, and standing smoking on the street outside, handing out cigarettes to overtaxed New Yorkers trying to bum them off him.
