US Election Update

I continue to keep an eye on the US Presidential election. Donald Trump is generally agreed to have had a bad recent few weeks, because of stuff he’s said (as usual). But more and more people (including a number of doctors) are getting very concerned about Hillary’s health, as she is helped up stairs, and needs a stool to sit on, and cushions to prop her up. Doubts are being expressed whether she’ll actually be able to remain standing for 2 hours during the scheduled debates with Donald Trump.

Despite Hillary continuing to lead in the polls,  today I came across an interesting leaked poll, which showed Trump in a commanding position in Florida. Some of the questions:

Q10
The candidates for President are Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump, Libertarian Gary Johnson, and Green Party candidate Jill Stein. If the election was today, who would you vote for?
Hillary Clinton……………………………………….9%
Donald Trump………………………………………74%
Gary Johnson………………………………………. 1%
Jill Stein ………………………………………………3%
Undecided ……………………………………..…… 6%

Q11
If the election were held today, who do you think would win?
Hillary Clinton……………………………………….70%
Donald Trump………………………………………24%
Gary Johnson………………………………………. 3%
Jill Stein ………………………………………………3%

Q13
[For Hillary Voters] What most concerns you about Hillary Clinton?
Trust / Emails……………………………………..7%
Grating Voice………………………………………31%
Probably Killed Some Guys………………….. 9%
Robbed Bernie Sanders…………………..……21%
Health. She’s super sick! ……………………..32%

It seems that most of those polled  would vote for Donald if the vote was today, but they also thought that Hillary was going to win. And the health question was their biggest worry.

It said elsewhere in the report that something like 90% of Democrat voters thought that Trump would win, and 70% of Republican voters thought that Hillary would win.

That said, I wondered whether the report might not have been a ‘leak’ at all, but an elaborate spoof got up by Republican black op specialists.

It’s going to be like this all the way to November.

  1. Frank, there’s no need for spoofs in this election. Here’s what’s in the straight news at the moment:

While no great fan of Trump he is demonised for what he says while what Hilary has actually done is ignored. I don’t know if he would be any good but the last thing needed is another sleazy Clinton in the White House. It is all very dispiriting and if I had a vote I think I would have to sit this one out. Still Trump won the nomination fair and square and should have had the support of all his competitors who signed the pledge to support whoever was the nominee. Whatever, America will survive, but probably better with a one term Trump than Clinton. Have never seen such media bias in Clintons favour though, it’s incredible.

The polls were rigged in the primaries against trump and their being rigged again……..we saw what happened in the primaries Trump beat everyone out everywhere. Hillary cant fill 300 in a high school gymnasium while Trump needs football stadiums for his crowds………

Polls are curious things in that they represent the opinion of one group out of many thousand possible such groups.

Let’s say that there are 6 million eligible voters in Florida.
A poll of 1,000 of them is only one group out of 6,000 possible such groups.

Also, they could do 10 polls and then report the one that suits their purpose.
