CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) – This fact might surprise you: Some scented candles could be as harmful, if not worse than smoking a cigarette.
That’s according to Doctor Andrew Sledd who is a pediatrician who specializes in Environmental Toxicology.
He said it takes only an hour of burning a candle to produce the same effects as smoking a single cigarette.
On top of that, research by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency shows candles release the dirtiest soot, sometimes containing particles of zinc, tin and lead.
“It’s more dangerous because it doesn’t get filtered on it, which removes hundreds of millions of micro particles, a candle doesn’t. Just like that in your room,” said Dr. Sledd.
Dr. Sledd said the soot particles penetrate the deepest parts of the lung and could cause respiratory illness.
Some people we talked to say they’ve thrown out their candles all together.
Jon Walter, a massage therapist in Cape Girardeau, said the warning was reason enough to switch to fake candles and oils.
“We all loved having the candles because they were so relaxing and everyone loved them so much,” he said. “But knowing that it is bad for you and for us, to be working here all day with candles burning for someone that doesn’t smoke we don’t want to be dealing with that kind of pressure.”
Stories like this make me think that the ultimate goal of the prohibitionists isn’t merely the abolition of smoking, but in fact the abolition of fire.
No smoking, no barbecues, no wood burning stoves, no candles, and ultimately no burning anything at all.
It’s where smoking ban lunacy meet global warming mania. Combustion of any sort produces soot, carbon dioxide, and countless ‘chemicals’, some of which are carcinogenic. So combustion of any sort must be outlawed, including in car engines, factories, and kitchens.
It’s why there’s a big push for solar energy, wind energy, and tidal energy. No combustion is involved.
It’s all complete barking madness, of course. For all living things also require combustion processes to power them. The abolition of fire will ultimately lead to the abolition of life.

Great post, Frank. I also recently had a thought about the usefulness of fire, and how this could be the real target of prohibitionists. Fire commands power and can be weaponized; very scary stuff indeed, especially if you’re trying to homogenize the masses.

Pope Francis has revealed himself to be a “progressive” as well, so I believe the answer is, “yes.”
I read the other day that incense used in Catholic mass may get caught up in the legislation banning legal highs! :) They wrote in a list of exemptions, including things like alcohol and caffeine, but overlooked the mind enhancing effects of stuff like frankincense.

I often wonder about that. I always loved the smell of incense, but for the antis the smell of anything is always a stink. And any sort of smoke in the air is always lethal or carcinogenic or causes global warming.

I assume Pope Francis is already planning to have the smokestack removed from the Sistine Chapel and replaced with a solar-powered electronic billboard that reads either, “POPE: NO” or “POPE: YES.” And in between conclaves it will probably read, “Smoking is strictly prohibited on Vatican grounds.”
There is a hookah café on Saint-Denis in Montréal that smells wonderful every time I pass by. It’s the best smelling ten metres in the whole city. The Antis want to close it down.

An Apollo-style research programme to make renewable energy cheaper than fossil fuels has won the backing of Sir David Attenborough, who says this alone would be enough to halt climate change.
The renowned naturalist joins a group of eminent scientists, business executives and politicians backing a 10-year public research and development plan to cut the costs of clean energy and deliver affordable technologies to store and transport solar and wind power.
In a letter to the Guardian, the group argue that the approach, mirroring the intense Apollo programme that put men on the moon, “will not only pay for itself but provide economic benefits to the nations of the world”….
“In the 1960s, scientists overcame immense odds to achieve something extraordinary – the Apollo missions to the Moon,” Attenborough said. “Now some of the finest minds must again unite in the face of an even greater challenge.”
“Most of the great advances of the last 100 years have come from publicly-funded research – computers, satellites, the internet, smart phones,” he said.
Why is someone who is primarily a naturalist so convinced of the reality of global warming?
First you have to be a believer in so called climate change,next you have to be on the payoff of the ones pushing it…………Attenborough is likely both a believer and a paid hack to push this BS.

A whole bunch of temples, millions of devotees and tens of thousands of gifted joss stick makers await with bated breath his considered opinion. While those of the hippie generation may reflect on those nights sat stoned out of their gourds on hash, listening to Pink Floyd and Pipers at the Gates of Dawn with joss sticks smouldering away in awfully close proximity to those cheap brass ornaments and tie and dye fabrics, whilst laying upon a cheap and smelly “Persian Rug” in some squalid bedsit, with the almost obligatory pack of Disque Bleu (or Cigtanes) somewhere in the room.
