I used to quite like Boris:
Leaked e-mails reveal London’s Conservative mayor, Boris Johnson, plans to announce a new “hate crime” reporting hotline. However, various identity groups and grievance charities oppose the initiative, believing each victim group needs it’s own tailor-made hotline to encourage maximum reporting of perceived “hate crimes.”
Every year more hate crimes are recorded in London than across the whole of the US. They range from comparatively harmless low-level speech offences to crimes of violence that have always been illegal under other pre-existing legislation. Those criminally violent acts are then combined with hate crime legislation to punish an offender’s motivation against a protected group as well as the offence committed itself.
A quarter of all LGBT hate crime reports for the country are made in London, and the city has been described as the “hate crime reporting capital of the world” by Nik Noone, chief executive of London’s LGBT charity Galop.
The Conservative Mayor, MP and party leadership hopeful, meanwhile, thinks what London needs is even more of a victimhood culture and plans to announce the hate crime hotline during “hate crime awareness week” in October, according to e-mails seen by The Guardian.
I bet there won’t be a hate crime hotline for smokers. They’re not an ‘approved minority’. After all, most antismoking hate is state sponsored.
Along similar lines:
A Conservative Member of Parliament has said that anti-extremism powers should be used against Christian teachers who don’t agree with gay marriage. Christian groups said that the comments prove that the government’s new anti-extremist orders, designed to tackle Islamic extremism, will be used against anyone who disagrees with liberal orthodoxy…
Simon Calvert, Deputy Director of the Christian Institute said: “I am genuinely shocked that we have an MP supporting the idea of teachers being branded extremists for teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman. This is exactly the kind of thing we’ve been warning about.
“The Government says we’ve got nothing to worry about from their new extremism laws, but here is one of its own MPs writing to a constituent saying EDOs would stop teachers teaching mainstream Christian beliefs.”
He added: “Ten years ago the Conservatives opposed Tony Blair’s unpopular law against ‘inciting religious hatred’, saying it jeopardised free speech – yet here they are seeking to bring in an even worse law.
And since Christianity has been mentioned:
The Welsh Government is poised to oust religious education and ban Christianity from schools to “rise to the challenge of community cohesion” and “extremism.”
Welsh Minister for Education and Skills Huw Lewis, told Senedd, The Welsh Parliament:
“My contention would be that we rename the [religious education] curriculum and transform it into the religion, philosophy and ethics element of the curriculum – where there is an explicit commitment to allowing children to ponder ideas around ethics and citizenship and what it means to be a citizen of a free country.”
Which free country is that? I wish I lived in one.
It’s not just a war on smokers and drinkers and fat people. It’s a full scale cultural war on all aspects of traditional culture. ‘Hate speech’ legislation will only apply to approved minorities. The traditional notion of marriage is under attack, and Christianity is under attack too. And the country is flooded with immigrants. And sovereignty is passed to Brussels. And all now being done by a supposedly ‘Conservative’ government.
But I don’t think the re-education programme is going to work, somehow. I don’t think it’s possible to change cultural identities like changing used engine oil. The old cultural identity will remain, and will eventually re-assert itself. It always does.
