Cultural War

I used to quite like Boris:

Leaked e-mails reveal London’s Conservative mayor, Boris Johnson, plans to announce a new “hate crime” reporting hotline. However, various identity groups and grievance charities oppose the initiative, believing each victim group needs it’s own tailor-made hotline to encourage maximum reporting of perceived “hate crimes.”

Every year more hate crimes are recorded in London than across the whole of the US. They range from comparatively harmless low-level speech offences to crimes of violence that have always been illegal under other pre-existing legislation. Those criminally violent acts are then combined with hate crime legislation to punish an offender’s motivation against a protected group as well as the offence committed itself.

A quarter of all LGBT hate crime reports for the country are made in London, and the city has been described as the “hate crime reporting capital of the world” by Nik Noone, chief executive of London’s LGBT charity Galop.

The Conservative Mayor, MP and party leadership hopeful, meanwhile, thinks what London needs is even more of a victimhood culture and plans to announce the hate crime hotline during “hate crime awareness week” in October, according to e-mails seen by The Guardian.

I bet there won’t be a hate crime hotline for smokers. They’re not an ‘approved minority’. After all, most antismoking hate is state sponsored.

Along similar lines:

A Conservative Member of Parliament has said that anti-extremism powers should be used against Christian teachers who don’t agree with gay marriage. Christian groups said that the comments prove that the government’s new anti-extremist orders, designed to tackle Islamic extremism, will be used against anyone who disagrees with liberal orthodoxy…

Simon Calvert, Deputy Director of the Christian Institute said: “I am genuinely shocked that we have an MP supporting the idea of teachers being branded extremists for teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman. This is exactly the kind of thing we’ve been warning about.

“The Government says we’ve got nothing to worry about from their new extremism laws, but here is one of its own MPs writing to a constituent saying EDOs would stop teachers teaching mainstream Christian beliefs.”

He added: “Ten years ago the Conservatives opposed Tony Blair’s unpopular law against ‘inciting religious hatred’, saying it jeopardised free speech – yet here they are seeking to bring in an even worse law.

And since Christianity has been mentioned:

The Welsh Government is poised to oust religious education and ban Christianity from schools to “rise to the challenge of community cohesion” and “extremism.”

Welsh Minister for Education and Skills Huw Lewis, told Senedd, The Welsh Parliament:

“My contention would be that we rename the [religious education] curriculum and transform it into the religion, philosophy and ethics element of the curriculum – where there is an explicit commitment to allowing children to ponder ideas around ethics and citizenship and what it means to be a citizen of a free country.”

Which free country is that? I wish I lived in one.

It’s not just a war on smokers and drinkers and fat people. It’s a full scale cultural war on all aspects of traditional culture. ‘Hate speech’ legislation will only apply to approved minorities. The traditional notion of marriage is under attack, and Christianity is under attack too. And the country is flooded with immigrants. And sovereignty is passed to Brussels. And all now being done by a supposedly ‘Conservative’ government.

But I don’t think the re-education programme is going to work, somehow. I don’t think it’s possible to change cultural identities like changing used engine oil. The old cultural identity will remain, and will eventually re-assert itself. It always does.

I went right off Boris when one of the first things he did the moment he was elected as London Mayor was to ban drinking alcohol on the Tube. As if that’s the thing that causes any problems, rather than the preceding hours spent in the pubs or clubs! What, does he think that everybody magically sobers up the minute they step on a train, and then has to start drinking madly again to get drunk before they get home? Didn’t it occur to him that one of the reasons they are even on the wretched train is so that they don’t have to drive home under the influence? And, incidentally, in case any Boris-lovers are wondering, no, I have never drunk any alcohol on a Tube in my life, and never intend to do so, but I’d certainly rather people were drinking on the Tube than getting in their cars and driving home after a night on the town.

Prior to that, I confess that I’d always rather liked Boris, and was genuinely pleased when he won the election and ousted po-faced, ex-smoking nanny Ken Livingstone, not least because Boris had at least been moderately vocal in saying that he disliked the smoking ban. But the moment he banned drinking alcohol on the tube, I knew for certain that he’d never do a single thing – not even now he had the power to do so – to call the dogs off smokers. And so it has turned out. OK, so, unlike his predecessor, he hasn’t actually embraced the ban or waxed lyrical about how lovely it is, or done anything to encourage its extension, but he’s certainly been remarkably silent on the matter since being elected, whereas beforehand he at least had the courage to say that he thought it was “illiberal” or “unreasonable” (or something similar).

Just goes to show that politicians, no matter how affable and “human” they might appear, are all basically from the same mould – just waiting for the opportunity to further persecute some group (to which they, naturally, never belong) which just happens to enjoy one of their own little pet hates. In Boris’s case, of course, this group comprises “nasty, common people” drinking lager, in public, and, what’s more, drinking it – shock! horror! – straight out of the can! I mean, really? Can you imagine?

Idiot. Just like the rest of them.

Go to http://aattp.org/vile-racist-slapped-spat-on-elderly-black-woman-who-turned-out-be-a-judge-video/# and notice what precipitated this attack.

Then notice that of the 411 comments made in response, other than several of mine, only a half dozen or so even mention smoking, and several of them of them are of the type, “Well, she shouldn’t have been smoking…”

Well they would, they can’t have just anyone doing as they do! They may find themselves as a target of their own tactics.

“I bet there won’t be a hate crime hotline for smokers. They’re not an ‘approved minority’. After all, most antismoking hate is state sponsored.”

No but if they had to spend half the day fielding calls from “outraged” smokers the system would be very hard to keep working.

  5. waltc says:

If this odious illiberal poposal becomes law, smokers should nonetheless flood all the hotlines with complaints of smoker abuse. Overwhelm the switchboards. At least in America we still have the first amendment, though more and more it’s merely honored in the breach anh howling mobs do the rest. What an inglorious end to the free society. Not with a bang but a whimper.

    • Joe L. says:

If smokers do overwhelm their switchboards, I have a feeling they would most likely make a statement telling smokers to stop calling, thus ironically causing a hotline for reporting discrimination to further discriminate against the discriminated. This wouldn’t be a bad thing, however, if the media gloms onto it, but most likely the anti-smoking industry wouldn’t allow that to happen.

ACE Memo’s a ‘Smoking Gun’ Against EPA

For more information on Newsline, contact: Kari Barbic, Media Specialist, American Farm Bureau Federation, karib@fb.org.

A cache of internal memos that federal regulators intended to keep private reveals a culture of secrecy, falsehood and dysfunction that permeated the Waters of the U.S. rulemaking process. Micheal Clements has more.

Clements: The memos released by the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform show the EPA’s disregard to concerns by the Army Corps of Engineers on the Waters of the U.S. rule, further damaging the agencies credibility. American Farm Bureau’s Don Parrish says the EPA rule making process was severely flawed and the memos released this week further prove that.
Parrish: We know that the Corps had substantial concerns with what EPA was doing with this regulation, and it really does call out the fundamental basis for this rule and really explains in very specific detail how EPA got this process wrong and how they got some of the fundamental underpinnings wrong.
Clements: According to Parrish, the Corps of Engineers claims EPA’s economic analysis over the rule was wrong, and the Corps were upset with EPA’s misinterpretation of data and the lack of communication while creating the rule.
Parrish: They were so upset that they wanted their name taken off all the process, that is extremely telling, and it also indicates that the decisions were being made at a very high level politically. As to whether or not this is truly a smoking gun, we think it is. We think the agencies credibility is shot, or at least EPA’s credibility.”
Clements: Parrish says he is hopeful this will turn the tide on the rule.
Parrish: We hope that gives us enough momentum to really force EPA to go back and start over again or at least start the process from a point where we can get a reasonable and balanced rule. We do think it’s going to have some impact on the litigation but that process is going to play out over a very long time. And the only way we are going to get true immediate change is for the Congress to step in and do something about it.
    Clements: Micheal Clements, Washington.

Looking quite forward to it! Anti-smoker inciting hatred surely is a hate crime we all have to stop!
So, when I am travelling through London I shall pick up the phone and dial this number as soon as a smoker hater as much as glares at me when I open my cigarette case. (After all, I am only a small woman!!!!)

A Conservative Member of Parliament has said that anti-extremism powers should be used against Christian teachers who don’t agree with gay marriage.
    Huh??
Gay marriage appears to be more of a bone of contempt than I am aware of. I have no problem with it but I do not see why all of a sudden a teacher who teaches that traditional marriage is between a man and a woman would be labelled and treated the same as e.g. an islamic EXTREMIST who plans to kill people (kuffar) and dictate a ‘life style’ which does allow the killing of me if I do not do as I’m told.
WHY overrunning asexuals (which children are prior to their hormonal changes) with a, to them alien, concept of sexual orientation? Once they have passed the years it takes for all hormonal changes to occur/being dealt with, they find their own sexual orientation.
No wonder the ‘lickle daaaalings’ are getting more and more screwed up – and incapable of living!!!

Idiot governments are getting carried away with idiotic things – not well considered the long term implications this ‘politically correct’ thinking and acting will have. I guess it’s enough; 4 years to make enough cash to live comfortably the rest of your life?

It’s not just a war on smokers and drinkers and fat people. It’s a full scale cultural war on all aspects of traditional culture. ‘Hate speech’ legislation will only apply to approved minorities. The traditional notion of marriage is under attack, and Christianity is under attack too. And the country is flooded with immigrants.

Hate speech legislation is common place now – it started (again!) with the anti-smokers and is expanded to all ‘undesirables’ who do not fit an equilibrium-esque picture of a world only the scared ones want to live in.
Christianity teaches tolerance and honesty – politically incorrect. Of course it has to go! It gets in the way of lying, cheating and backstabbing. The gay community is very likely to be unaware of these aspects!
    Immigrants…..
I have watched the news lately. And the BBC interviews with the immigrants willing to risk their lives to get into Britain. A woman did stick out – she demanded her RIGHT. She did travel through several European states and was hell-bent to get to Britain because the other European states have stricter rules.
She also did not express gratitude towards the British; she didn’t even ask who would be feeding her; she demanded her (?human) RIGHT. The European countries she travelled through were providing, albeit short term, safety. Once you are safe you can make a start rebuilding – and/or LEGALLY move on. Your life no longer is in danger and it is time to become busy with plans for the future. And, if you plan to settle into a community and culture different to yours, you better become part of it!

I am all for helping people – but they do need to help us all helping them!!!

And sovereignty is passed to Brussels. And all now being done by a supposedly ‘Conservative’ government.
As all politicians – short sighted!!

    • Joe L. says:

“As all politicians – short sighted!!”

Exactly. Hell, most of them can’t see any farther their own wallet.

    Turkey?
Erdogans Turkey that wants to recreate the Ottoman empire, the Turkey that covertly supports IS, the Turkey that is attacking the YPG and the PKK the only ground force in the middle east truly effective against IS?
The Turkey that is burning farmland in the Kurdish regions and on and on and on.
The mans a blithering idiot, Turkey is practically a rogue state now.
