Coming Egg Shortage Will Tax Family Budgets
eggs are a staple in your family’s diet and you’d like to keep it that way, now would be a good time to get a few laying hens. Next month, beginning January 1, 2015, the chicken-and-egg production in the United States is in for a big shock. That’s when California’s new regulations on egg-laying hens goes into effect. And the effects of those regs on eggs will be felt nationally, even globally. The incredible, edible, prolate spheroid-shaped poultry product, which has long been one of the most affordable sources of high-quality protein, is certain to become significantly more expensive.
In 2008, the Humane Society of the United States spent $10 million on a statewide campaign in California to pass Proposition 2, which bans the sale of eggs from hens kept in restrictive “battery cages” that are lined row-on-row in major hatcheries. Battery cage systems, which are the standard in the industry, account for over 90 percent of the eggs produced in the country.

Liberty, Ky. Repeals Smoking Ban

A smoking ban in the rural town of Liberty, Ky. lasted about a month before being repealed Wednesday at the town council meeting by a 5-1 vote.

WKDO-FM reports that the ban on smoking in public buildings seemed to tread too far into government interference in the matters of private business for the town’s liking, as several residents spoke on that point. While there was a significant group of people there to support the ban based on health concerns, it wasn’t enough to sway the council.
The revision must still go through a second hearing at the council’s Dec. 22 meeting before it will be officially repealed.
Liberty is home to just under 2,200 residents and is located about 100 miles south east of Louisville.
If that doesn’t send a clear message to the Nazis at the state level yeehawww!

State Revenue Forecast Stable, But Gambling And Smoking Cash Evaporating
Indiana’s gaming revenue has been in free fall for a few years, and it’s predicted to continue its drop in the upcoming two-year budget cycle.
That’s in large part because of increased competition from neighboring states.
A legislative study committee is proposing changes to the industry that include moving riverboats on land, allowing live dealers rather than electronic table games at racinos, and tax incentives.
But State Budget Committee chair Luke Kenley (R-Noblesville) says the gloomy outlook doesn’t mean more pressure on the legislature to enact those proposed changes.
“It’s just the competitive posture has changed that marketplace so much that I don’t think you can recover the whole thing,” Kenley says.
Cigarette taxes are expected to drop around two percent in the next biennium, but Kenley says he’s not concerned.
“I think we want people to smoke less, so I’m willing to deal with that issue,” Kenley says. “If they smoke less and we collect less cigarette taxes, that indicates a success on that front and we’ll have to figure out how to solve our fiscal problems in another way.”
Governor Mike Pence’s proposed healthcare expansion relies in part on cigarette tax revenues to pay for his plan.

She’s throwing in a few “shriek” notes which she somehow does with the tip of her forefinger. She starts with one, and tosses another one in at 33 seconds and again at 45 seconds and later still
Here’s Dave Gilmour playing an epic version of Comfortably Numb. There don’t seem to be any “shriek” notes at all. So I think those must be an embellishment of hers.
Also he uses the vibrato arm quite a lot, and she gets all her vibrato just using her fingers.
I believe the ‘shriek’ is a pinch harmonic. It is created by picking and then catching the string. a fraction later, with the thumb.
David Gilmore produces a similar, though, cleaner harmonic at about 11s.
She doesn’t seem to be doing anything much with her thumbs. But every time she hits one of those “shrieks”, she’s wiggling her left forefinger on the string

I’ve played guitar and piano since I was a little younger than her, and I must say she is very talented for her age! Frank, the sounds you’re referring to are definitely pinch harmonics, as westcoast2 mentioned. It’s done by “pinching” the string between the pick and the thumb of the picking (right) hand. You would never be able to see it unless someone showed you very slowly in-person. The “wiggling” of her left (fretting hand) finger is her adding vibrato to the note (a rhythmic, “pulsing” up-and-down bending of the pitch of the note).

I can tell.
Theres very few players in the world who can make a single guitar sound like three playing. Chet Atkins was one and I know of only 7 others who can actually do it. Hendrix being one.
But Chet Atkins is whats called a 5 finger picker and could make a 12 string sound like a baby grand piano playing. On average it kaes about 5 years per finger to become as good as chet. Very few ever master such a style.

That’s down by the new grand ole opry off of Briley parkway. I was in Cooters dukes of Hazzard store getting trinkets when that went down………
But then it coulda been down by the hall of fame building downtown………..I forget they got like 2 of them in town. Down by the opry has become the tourist trap in town anymore since the last 2 mayors basically destroyed the downtown new Orleans atmosphere we had since the 1950s. I can remember in the 1960s going into tootsies where all the singers hung out until showtime smoking and cutting up and dad carved our names in one of the wooden table tops. The even had the old flip styled music listings in the booths to pay and play…………it was all so cool back then.
2nd avenue is still alive with singers on the walkway and such but nothing like it was before. Hell I cant even find my way around since Bredesen redesigned the downtown roadworks. Its like a giant circle and everything is forced fed traffic wise back into itself unless you know how to get back out again.

I nailed em with this on eugenics in Indiana and its why the smokers protection act was passed to prevent more eugenics from happening yet again.
One of the more ignominious chapters in Indiana history ended only in 1974, when the second piece of legislation permitting compulsory sterilization was repealed by the Indiana General Assembly. The origins of the long-standing law reach into the nineteenth century and have been linked with such enormities as the mass genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany. Although its tenets had been discussed since the 1830s, the term “eugenics” was coined in 1883 by Francis Galton–a cousin of Charles Darwin–to suggest the betterment of the human race through social intervention. Scientists and physicians around the world gave credibility and support to the pseudo-scientific notion. In an article published in the New York Medical Journal in 1902, Dr. Harry Sharp glowingly described his experience providing vasectomies to the inmates in a Jeffersonville, Indiana reformatory. The three minute procedure–performed without anesthesia–not only improved his subjects’ physical and psychological constitution, in Sharp’s account. He argued that it also had the ultimately greater societal benefit of preventing the propagation of a criminal race. Acting outside the law, Sharp sterilized as many as 456 men at the institution from 1899 through 1907.
Sharp’s efforts were well received and supported by a growing number of doctors, agricultural breeders, sociologists, and public health officials in the Hoosier state. One of the nation’s most prominent eugenics theorists was David Starr Jordan, onetime president of Indiana University. “The pauper is the victim of heredity,” Jordan wrote in his 1902 publication Blood of a Nation, “but neither Nature nor Society recognizes that as an excuse for his existence.” Given the currency of eugenics in the collective mindset, and Harry Sharp’s extensive lobbying, the Indiana legislature passed a law on March 9, 1907, providing for the “prevention of the procreation of.

Indiana should move quickly to repeal the smoking ban and pass legislation to criminalize and so called public heath worker who pushes such eugenics trash now and in the future.

These days we do have an awful lot of youngsters who are depressed – and are placed into some sort of treatment. WHY are they depressed? When thinking back to being a youngster, at the age of 20 there was a lot of hope and a life to go for – and fun!!!
And, hell, yeah, by then I KNEW life sucks at times!!!

This kid is REALLY good!!!! Crisp, clear! Like it!!!! And envy the kid. I started to learn to play the guitar when I was 16 – made it to “average”…. But then, Once I have done all the outstanding jobs in my (now increased) spare time, I might well pick up my (ancient) Ibanez again and start from scratch…
I am surprised, though, that this youngster does know Pink Floyd… Comfortably Numb (The Wall) was released in either 1979 or 1980….
Harley, is it dubbed over or is she using a chorus effect? You can also get VST plugins to do double tracking.
Nice country blues from Razzy Bailey with a touch of swing. Danceable though maybe a bit pacy for West Coast Swing. He does do a nice version of Wilson Pickett’s “In the Midnight Hour” which is WCSwingable :)
You could be right on the chorus effect,I still think some dubbing was done but we will never know. If not the young lady is ready to be lead guitar for any rock band out there.
The audio and video seem a bit out of sync, which could be due to a number of issues, including digital processing (like a VST plugin). However, I believe it’s not overdubbed.
