Some Other Bloggers

There was a time, rather a long time ago, when I used to read US left wing blogs. And then I stopped reading them, and started reading UK libertarian blogs. More recently I’ve started reading US right wing blogs too. How times change.

One place I now visit fairly regularly is World Net Daily’s Commentator Lineup, which includes Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter, Thomas Sowell, and Christopher Monckton. Here’s part of Monckton’s latest piece:

The U.N., in the person of a communist bureaucrat and fossil-fuel billionaire named Strong, invented the climate scam because the pompous, squawking inadequates and misfits who populate its marble halls have long fancied themselves as Kommissars in the most exclusive club in the world – the Politburo of a global bureaucratic-centralist government.

They gave the game away in 2009 when, on Sept. 15, they published on an obscure U.N. website the draft climate treaty that, they hoped, would be triumphantly signed at the annual international climate yabbadabbathon at Copenhagen.

The draft, at Paragraphs 36 and 38 of Annex 1, explicitly mentioned that a global “government” would be established, with overriding powers of taxation, regulation and enforcement. This power of the Klimate Kommissars to compel independent-minded nations to do as they were told was delicately described in the treaty draft as a “facilitative mechanism.”

A 2 percent tax on every financial transaction worldwide was to be levied. Rich nations would be ordered to contribute a further 2 percent of GDP each.

And would this world “government” be elected? Did the words “ballot” or “vote” appear anywhere in that dismal draft? No. This was to be a tyranny-by-clerk, modeled on the unelected and now mercifully collapsing European Union, which – by a process of annual agreements and treaties whose content was kept so secret that in Britain the major treaties were actually classified until they had been inflicted on us and we could not escape – acquired supreme legislative and administrative power by little and little, while few noticed what was going on.

I’m glad he thinks that the EU is collapsing, and that the climate scam is discredited. But both seem to stagger on anyway, like the undead in some horror movie (which is what reality increasingly resembles these days).

There are other commentators on WND, but I don’t know most of their names. I wondered if any of my US readers have any favourite websites they might recommend. Thomas Sowell was one of Walt’s recommendations. One that I’d like to read more of is Mark Steyn, currently embroiled in a court case with Hockey Stick inventor Michael Mann. But I never seem to manage to bookmark his blog.

Billionaires and Communists Plan “People’s Climate March”

      Posted on September 18, 2014 by ror1774

      Down With Carbon
16 September 2014 by Alex Newman

With United Nations bosses gathering dictators and government representatives in New York next week for a “climate” summit amid the ongoing implosion of their man-made “global warming” theories, a coalition ranging from billionaire front groups to the Communist Party is planning what it calls “the People’s Climate March.” What critics refer to as the “global rent-a-mob,” organized in part by the Rockefeller-funded alarmist organization, claims the worldwide demonstrations demanding a UN global-warming regime will be “the largest climate rally in history.” They may well be, but that hardly changes the fact that most Americans reject failed anthropogenic global-warming (AGW) theories and that virtually every falsifiable “climate” prediction has been dead wrong.

The “People’s” Climate March, not to be confused with the open-air gulag UN member-state known as the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, is set to take place on September 21, the day before UN “climate dignitaries” converge in New York to plot a new anti-carbon regime for humanity. As with many other pseudo-popular movements, the establishment-backed march is there to provide some semblance of public support for deeply unpopular policy machinations. In this case, the goals include carbon taxes, energy rationing, mass wealth redistribution from Western taxpayers to Third World dictators, further empowering the UN, and imposing a draconian planetary regime supposedly aimed at curbing “global warming” that will devastate the poor.

It would be easy to assume that nobody bothered informing the organizers and their dupes that there has been no warming for 18 years and counting even as polar ice continues to hit new record-highs — defying every prediction and climate model advanced by the UN and its fellow warming alarmists over the last few decades. More likely, though, is that the establishment figures behind the “climate” coalition have ambitions that go far beyond stopping warming that, based on the undisputed temperature record, stopped almost two decades ago. “This is an invitation to change everything,” the People’s Climate March says on its website promoting the rallies.

Everything? Well, almost. “With our future on the line and the whole world watching, we’ll take a stand to bend the course of history,” the promo for the march continues. “We’ll take to the streets to demand the world we know is within our reach: a world with an economy that works for people and the planet; a world safe from the ravages of climate change; a world with good jobs, clean air and water, and healthy communities.” Beyond New York City, the coalition is also planning “climate” demonstrations to “change everything” in London, Berlin, and other major cities. It remains unclear how many actual “people” will be turning out, but organizers claim it will be huge.

Among the groups partnering with the march are the Communist Party USA, the Socialist Party USA, numerous self-described socialist groups, Big Labor, the billionaire George “New World Order” Soros-funded, myriad Islamic groups, crony capitalists, pseudo-environmentalist establishment front groups, and many more. As U.S. Communist Party boss John Bachtell wrote in the CPUSA mouthpiece People’s World in a recent propaganda piece promoting its “People’s Climate March”: “Solutions to the climate crisis inevitably collide with the capitalist system.” In other words, to solve the fake “crisis,” prepare to lose your prosperity and your God-given rights.

Another one of the outfits partnering with the march, Socialist Alternative, also recently outlined the real agenda being advanced by socialists purporting to be concerned about non-existent warming: “solving climate change” with global socialism. According to the outfit’s Pete Ikeler, capitalism combined with fossil fuels now threatens “all advances” made by humanity over its history. The problems are allegedly so bad that perhaps “industrialization” was not such a good idea after all, he suggested. “The solution, therefore, … is the replacement of capitalism with a rational, planned, and democratic economy — otherwise known as socialism,” it says. “Humanity is indeed at a crossroads — and capitalism is in the way. We urge all members of the 99% to join in the struggle for system change to stop climate change.”

Amplified by Russian state-owned propaganda outlets and Western propagandists styling themselves “journalists,” People’s March organizers, echoing UN talking points, claim to be creating the necessary momentum to provide enough cover for globalists to foist their climate regime on humanity. “The People’s Climate March can be — and in many ways already is — creating a tipping point moment for the world,” reads a statement from event organizers quoted by Russia’s RIA Novosti. “There’s real power in this kind of human energy.”

The Rockefeller oil dynasty-funded outfit, which seeks to impose a draconian UN-run regime to reduce concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere to 350 parts per million, has previously organized major global-warming protests around the world. Unsurprisingly, the “green” AstroTurf (phony grassroots) machinations, which a recent Senate report once again confirmed are being bankrolled and used by what it called “the Billionaires’ Club,” always get plenty of establishment-media attention, too. However, the increasingly discredited “mainstream” press has consistently failed to tell the whole story.

For instance, take the basic premise behind the whole AGW edifice supposedly requiring global socialism: The notion that carbon dioxide — exhaled by humans and essential for plant life — is “pollution” that will supposedly lead to catastrophic warming. With no temperature increases for 18 years and counting even as CO2 levels grew, countless scientists who rely on the scientific method and observable evidence to reach conclusions concede that the theory must be incorrect. Dozens of excuses have been concocted to explain what alarmists refer to as the “pause” in global warming, including Obama’s favorite, the “Theory of the Ocean Ate My Global Warming.” The simplest explanation — the theory is wrong — remains off the table for the UN and most of its member regimes.

Beyond the obvious problems with AGW theories, the notion that CO2 is harmful is considered ludicrous by respected scientists who study the issue. “CO2 is ‘the gas of life,’” explained Dr. Tom Segalstad, associate professor of resource and environmental geology and geochemistry at the University of Oslo. “The more CO2, the more life. More CO2 means we can feed more people on Earth. CO2 is contributing very little to the ‘greenhouse effect’. Clouds have much more influence on temperature.”

Dr. Segalstad is a contributing author with the Nongovernmental International Panel on Climate Change, or NIPCC, which produced a landmark survey of climate science and came to very different conclusions than the UN’s discredited “climate” fear-mongering reports. NIPCC lead author and meteorologist Dr. Madhav Khandekar, who also worked with the UN climate body until becoming outraged by its lack of interest in proper scientific review, also pointed out that human-added CO2 is not destabilizing the climate.

Even if CO2 were harmful “pollution,” rather than a beneficial and natural gas that is crucial to life on this planet, efforts to limit human emissions of the gas to control “climate” would still be beyond laughable. Water vapor, of course, is the primary “greenhouse gas” in the atmosphere, accounting for around 95 percent of the crucial-to-life so-called “greenhouse effect.” That gas is entirely beyond human control, and there is no dispute on any of those facts — even among the most devoted alarmists, whom critics ridicule as a “cult” for refusing to change their beliefs despite the undeniable evidence.

Carbon dioxide, meanwhile, accounts for about 0.04 percent of the gases present in Earth’s atmosphere. Of that, according to scientific estimates, less than 3.3 percent comes from human emissions such as the burning of fossil fuels. The vast majority comes from the oceans at around 42 percent, or the biosphere at about 55 percent — volcanoes, wild fires, decomposition, and more. In other words, around three percent of the “greenhouse gases” can be attributed to human activities. Of that tiny sliver attributed to humans, Americans are responsible for less than 20 percent.

None of that matters to the establishment forces whipping up “climate” hysteria to advance their own sinister objectives. Indeed, the “People’s Climate March” will hardly be the only global-warming alarmism event in New York City next week demanding UN “action.” Among other happenings, a pseudo-religious “climate” festival dubbed the “Religions For The Earth Conference” will be asking the gods to forgive humanity for its carbon sins. Separately, a coalition that includes top international mega-corporations, dubbed “The Climate Group,” will be organizing global-warming “awareness activities” all week as part of “Climate Week NYC.”

As what top establishment figures refer to as “useful idiots” converge on New York to demand their own enslavement under the guise of stopping a demonstrably manufactured crisis, the Obama administration has already indicated that it plans to foist the UN climate regime on America by decree. Instead of obtaining Senate approval as required under the U.S. Constitution, the White House intends to use “executive action” to further devastate the U.S. economy and what remains of the market amid its absurd war on “the gas of life.” Americans, a solid majority of whom consistently reject discredited AGW theories, must ensure that their elected representatives take action to protect the public, the economy, and the Constitution from the lawless machinations.

Another writer you’d like is Victor Davis Hanson –oh yeah, and Charles Krauthammer. picks the best cross-section of articles, columns and editorials from all US papers and mags –both left and right– on a daily basis so you see how an issue is covered by both sides. A final choice is, basically right wing and which is Libertarian. But there aren’t enough hours in the day.

On topic: at the UN today, Obama made another big pitch about global warming.

  5. Manmade climate change is absolutely a devious scheme to help create a Marxist-Leninist world government and with that comes the further deindustrialisation of the West.

All along the public was told the reason for rising temperatures was a result of the increase in global carbon emissions. Yet carbon emissions continue to rise, while temperatures do not.

The Economist says the world has added roughly 100 billion tons of carbon to the atmosphere between 2000 and 2010, about one-quarter of all the carbon dioxide put there by humans since 1750.

So what happened to the predictions of gloom and doom?

Don’t expect those with vested interests in what has become something resembling a religious belief to give up their faith when confronted with mere facts.

Their only alternative is to find another pseudo-crisis on which to make their case for reordering civilization to their liking.

Lots of money has already been made on climate change. And much productivity and employment has been lost by heeding the scaremongers.

Don’t expect Al Gore to give back his Nobel Peace Prize or apologize for frightening schoolchildren.

Don’t expect scientists whose livelihoods depend on government grants to suddenly see the light.

Don’t expect government schools to stop the indoctrination of kids.

Don’t expect the universities to reverse course.

Don’t expect to hear any mea culpas from the semi-official news media.

In other words, don’t expect the facts to get in the way of a socio-political, pseudo-scientific narrative so entrenched in our culture.

Not for at least another 20 years will the zealots give up on their pet peeves with humanity and industry – at least not until they find another cause that will keep them busy with lucrative doomsday scenarios that empower them and bring them celebrity.

As for me, I’d rather be called a climate-change denier than a denier of truth and reality.

  6. The irony is – and what the Greenies don’t seem to know – is that while we lose our industry, the Far East gains it and these countries have scant regard for the environment, as they are not regulated like the West is.

Also, to bring the goods to the West, “15 of the world’s biggest ships may now emit as much pollution as all the world’s 760m cars.” (2009)

Even if greenhouse gases were a problem, environmental regulations are making it worse. But then, the Commies don’t care because they only want to ‘save the planet’ from capitalism and freedom.

Rather than blogs, this is about U. S. newspaper / magazine opinion.

In the U. S. we have right (Republicans / Libertarians) and left (Democrats / Progressives) and a good number of Independents. In New York City we also have “The Rent Is Too Damn High” party. (Nice idea but it didn’t get my vote.)

By all means, read right wing blogs – but beware of ideologues. Some of these people can make an intelligent argument, but many are as dogmatic (and as crazy) as Tobacco Control zealots. The same can be said of left wing blogs; read those for contrary opinions. All too often, even for rationally presented posts, you just get “facts” that support one side of a very complex argument.

Right or left, when these gurus tell you what The American Public wants, be aware that most Americans probably don’t even know the gurus’ name, no less know or care about his or her position on any issue.

    Anyway, besides blogs, try

RC gathers opinion columns, mostly from U. S. print media or on-line magazines.

As far as I can tell it appears evenhanded. On the right you might see a piece from The Wall Street Journal or The National Review. There might also be pieces from left wing publications like The New York Times or If you open a link and like what you read, you can generally get to the website’s home page to see what else they offer.

Each day, RC has a “morning” and an “afternoon” news section. If you scroll down, in grey headline type, there’s also a RC Policy, RC Markets, etc. If you click on the headline you get another 10 or so stories in addition to those shown.

I recommend this site as a good place to get a variety of opinions on many topics in the news.

The same sort of people who promote climate hysteria as a ploy to advance world government, were the worshipers of the Soviet Union in the 20s and 30s – and Mao in the 1960s.

The UN is a body which the right wing “lunatic fringe” such as John Birchers were warning about – that it was a communistic project to bring about socialist world government – 50/60 years ago. The UN owes much of it’s creation to US State Department official Alger Hiss, one of the many important Soviet agents of influence in the US government in the 30s and 40s – he was first secretary of the UN. Information that Hiss was actually a Soviet agent was ignored for years by the US government – he was only finally exposed due to the much maligned House Committee on Un American Activities.

    • Yep. After all of this the EU and the UN will likely be abandoned by even the leftists if there so called world order doesn’t materialize. Then we will have disgruntled socialist sociapaths in charge of a few countries that will likely build up military strength and start another world war,so the leftists under a new name and scheme can spend the next 100 years building a new, new world order under the same auspices as the last. Only they wont use climate they will brainstorm another Insanity and then in about 40 years strike again………… Its so over for these bastards this time it aint even funny. Its whats going to happen in spite of them losing everything I fear and it wont be pretty,

The FDA originally added the boxed warning about suicide in 2009, after receiving dozens of reports of suicide and hundreds of reports of suicidal behaviour among patients taking the smoking-cessation drug.

We have a society of mentally ill youngsters on tablets (long term sickness), high suicide rates, increasing in the young and elderly (remember, LIVING LONGER is the carrot dangled to move the ass into the most idiotic directions) population and no money for those entering pension age.
      HOW much money is squandered?

  15. beobrigitte says:

For a long time I have wondered about bloggers; I started relatively late reading various blogs.
I quickly learned that some bloggers blog politically very correct and do their best to give an impression of superiority. You disagree with their writing, however polite, you still face insults, or your comment being deleted.
The only time I did ask a question (which I still have – and it is a genuine question!) on some “save-the-environment-blog”. I simply asked if anyone could explain to me how our wobbling planet adjusts to it’s natural wobbles and why throughout history climates on this planet changed signficantly without human interference. I did also make the point that I do believe we do not manage this home we have incredibly well.
    My question simply disappeared.
I still have this question. Our planet is in process again of shifting it’s axis a little. This has nothing to do with human occupation. However, the way we are going (climate experts will meet again and try to force law after law through, none of which addresses HOW we can adjust to our planets wobble(s)) is the best recipe to kill all life here.

Last night, waiting at the bus stop as I am still awaiting my car log book, I lit up a cigarette and an old lady appeared, asking for a light. We stood there, smoking away, chatting about god and the world. I have no idea how we got to the subject – she told me that she was born on XX.XX.1906. That makes her 108 years old!! I laughed and said that I really do not want to live to that age in THIS society. She just replied that she hasn’t had a say in the matter. But she does miss her Bingo place a lot; ever since she was 80 it was her place to socialise.

    Food for thought.

    • Frank Davis says:

By “wobble”, do you mean the Earth’s 26,000 year precession, by which the celestial North Pole moves in a circle?

      • beobrigitte says:

Effectively, yes. This does cause a shift in our planet’s axis which would affect our climate (e.g. gulf stream etc., which in turn has many other effects).
As I said, my question was not welcomed.
On a spur of the moment thought (pity I did not think of that when asking my question); how would a change in the earths axis affect it’s orbit around the sun? Presumably only minutely, but enough to affect it’s magnetic field protecting us?

Another question: what made Mars’ poles switch?

        • Frank Davis says:

I think the shifting axis does have an effect on climate, but in combination with a number of other small variations, of which there are a whole bunch. The 26,000 year axial precession is just one. The axial tilt also varies over a 41,000 year cycle. And the Earth’s elliptical orbit also precesses, in a period of somewhere around 20,000 years. And the inclination of the Earth’s orbit has a 100,000 year period. They’re all described on Wikipedia’s article about Milankovich Cycles.

I don’t think that the tilt of the Earth has any effect on its orbit.

As for Mars, I presume that you mean the magnetic poles rather than than the celestial poles. I don’t know about Mars, but I know that the Earth’s magnetic poles do flip periodically. Currently the magnetic north pole is somewhere north of Canada, and moves around. And I’ve never heard a good explanation why.

        • beobrigitte says:

          Thanks Frank!!
They’re all described on Wikipedia’s article about Milankovich Cycles.
I know, but I have serious problems with Wikipedia. You will not find a balanced view there, just a platform for propaganda.

I don’t think that the tilt of the Earth has any effect on its orbit.
Just a thought, I might well be wrong! The tilt does affect our magnetic field, surely there must be, albeit minute, variations in it’s orbit around the sun.

As for Mars, I presume that you mean the magnetic poles rather than than the celestial poles.
Of course! (sorry for not being clearer)

I don’t know about Mars, but I know that the Earth’s magnetic poles do flip periodically.
I need to read up much more about Mars although I doubt that I will find answers. Perhaps it’s magnetic poles would have ‘switched’ at one time in fairly regular manner, too? What effect would this have had on it’s climate?

Currently the magnetic north pole is somewhere north of Canada, and moves around.
Isn’t this related to the movement of the magma at the earth’s core? Every now and then this movement is getting a little erratic (I do remember watching the news in the 1970s about migrating birds dying in drones in locations they weren’t supposed to be found) and causes ?a greater shift than usual to the earth’s “wobble”?

For as long as “we” (by now, please EXCLUDE me from that we) concentrate on ‘man-made’ global warming/climate change, we do NOT adjust to this planet’s natural life, we kill it. Sure, at present there are things that would need to be adjusted; carbon emission is not one of them.

Looking at Mars is a good idea. It died without human interference and no evidence of a population at one time there has been found.

BTW, the Indians have launched an ALDI-style mission to Mars; they successfully put an el cheapo sonde around it’s orbit.
