I quite often compare bad AGW science with bad tobacco science. The odd thing is that AGW alarmists do the same. Except they compare what they regard as good (and true) AGW science with good (and true) tobacco science. Here’s antismoker (well, tobacco anyway) and magnate Richard Branson on board a boat to Antarctica writing in his blog (in company with Al Gore and James Hansen, it seems), “No lie can live forever”:
I agree that no lie can live forever. But which is the lie?
It seems to me that the more the warmists claim that their climate science is just as good as tobacco science, and tie them together the way that Branson is doing here, the more likely it will be that climate science and tobacco science will share the same fate.
And it doesn’t help Branson’s cause to claim that “the planet is changing before our eyes,” and “We are heating it up,” when a click of the mouse brings up stuff like this:
or this:

Heh, that’s why they’ve tried to change the cause from from “Global Warming” to “Climate Change.” If you know anyone who’s sympathetic to the global warming issue and a fiction reader, get them a copy of Michael Crichton’s “State Of Fear.” It’s a good Crichton fast-moving slightly-science-fiction novel, but along the way he packs in a lot of heavy punches at the propagandists who push such social movements and examines some of the faults in the science they use. Too bad he didn’t aim it at the Antismokers! (although he DOES have a nice video clip where he talks about them to a group of college students: http://unravelingmysteries.com/was-michael-crichton-right )

He’s put his shirt on it.
What a plonker.
Wonder if he wants to buy the Eiffel tower, now there’s a thought!
This is why these people support AGW they have been fooled initially but do not want to lose the investments they were “conned” into making.
So they put it on us to pay the subsidies ,bad call, we are all waking up to this con mate!
From the rubble of lost freedom, a New world of liberty will be made.
In this new found freedom the nanny will find no harbor of refuge,Debra Arnot are you listening or booking flights on virgin air for some country to hide in as the Nazis did after ww2 in south america.
Branson seems to have gone South to avoid the cold weather.
Britain to shiver in temperatures ‘colder than the South Pole’ as health chiefs say more than 1,500 people a week could die from killer freeze
A cold snap that has left dozens dead across Eastern Europe will reach Britain by the weekend. Temperatures are set to plunge far below freezing point making the country even colder than the South Pole.
Forecasters are expecting overnight temperatures of between -8c (18f) and -10c (14f) on Friday.
The McMurdo research facility in Antarctica is currently recording -6c (21f) at night. .
Health chiefs have also started warning that as a result of the freezing conditions, more than 1,500 people a week could be killed by the weather.
The Department of Health’s Chief Medical Officer said that around 1,560 people, many elderly, would die due to cold weather each week between now and March in normal winter weather.
That figure will rise ‘substantially’, however, due to extreme cold like that we are currently experiencing.
The BBC is forecasting warm air from the west meeting cold air from the east over Britain. On the west side of England, I may only get rain, and temperatures of -3 deg C at night. On the east side, they’ll quite likely get snow, by the looks of it.
I wonder how many of those 1,560 predicted deaths will be among smokers standing outside?
We’ve got -11°C right now (midnight) here in Munich.
-17°C now (2:30 a.m.). °-)
Anybody need a good ”PUKE” this morning:
Re: Bylaw officers are busy enough, Jan. 31.
The Citizen editorial’s call for “voluntary compliance” and “common sense” doesn’t make the grade when it comes to tobacco use – indoors or out.
We wouldn’t suggest that restaurateurs volunteer to keep vermin out of their kitchens, we can and must demand it. A number of studies have shown that levels of carcinogenic PPAHs (particulate polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) increase significantly with the number of lit cigarettes per patio area, more than justifying the current initiative.
While the density of smokers may not be as great in parks, the concentration is more than high enough to cause harm, and there is also the constant danger of toddlers ingesting cigarette butts thoughtlessly dropped by smokers.
If common sense were the answer, no one would smoke at all, but that’s obviously not our reality. Better to have bylaw officers on the job, especially if this work will be paid through a reallocation of provincial tobacco funding.
In order to change behaviours and encourage smokers to understand they are doing harm to others, even outdoors, the new proposed bylaws should be welcome. Looking across the Quebec-Ontario border from Montreal, many of us are envious of the foresight being shown by Ottawa civic officials.

I was thinking more on the lines of dumping the frozen bodies of the thousands of pensioners who cant pay the bills any more on his private beach.
Knowing Branson he’d likely fly in some Head hunters from the south seas and have a cookout!
Yes I suppose my comment was maybe a bit over the top .
I have no problem with people who are rich, beautiful, super intelligent, or all three.
Or rich, thick, ugly and dumb.
It’s when they think they can start playing god it pisses me off.
Very distasteful.
